AMT Intercargo approached RJA Electrical looking for a solution to a Health & Safety issue that had arisen from a lack of control of the manner in which vehicles arrive in the yard.
Instead of arriving in a safe, controlled manner, vehicles were driving in at all speeds without any regard for the safety of people or vehicles already in the yard.
A simple solution was provided with the installation of a manually operated safety barrier, an intercom at the barrier and a light in the warehouse to alert staff at Intercargo that a visitor has arrived. A staff member comes out and manually opens the barrier to allow entry.
The task was completed on time and on budget within a couple of days.
